Install Crustat on Shopify
Add the Crustat app, pick your site, and switch it on in your theme with one click. There's nothing to paste.
How it works
The Crustat app for Shopify adds Crustat’s line to your storefront through your theme, as an app embed. An app embed is a small piece an app adds to your theme, which you can switch on and off in the theme editor. You don’t paste any code, and the app asks for no access to your store’s data: no orders, no customers, no products.
Set it up
- Add the app. Find Crustat in the Shopify App Store and add it to your store. Shopify asks you to approve it.
- Sign in to Crustat. After you approve, Shopify sends you to Crustat. Sign in, or create an account if you don’t have one yet.
- Pick your site. Under Which site is it?, choose the Crustat site this store’s visits go to, then click Connect. If your store’s domain isn’t in Crustat yet, the page offers a button like Add yourstore.com and connect, which does both at once.
- Turn it on in your theme. Click Turn it on in your theme. Your theme editor opens with the Crustat embed already switched on. Click Save there.
Your first visit shows up in your dashboard about a minute after it happens.
Only a workspace’s owners and admins can connect a store. If you’re a viewer, ask one of them to open Crustat from the Shopify admin. Teammates and roles are covered in invite your team.
If a link expired
The connect page works for one hour after you come from Shopify. If you see That link expired, open Crustat again from your Shopify admin (Apps → Crustat) and you’ll land back on the same step.
What’s tracked
The app covers your storefront’s theme pages: your home page, collections, products, pages, blog and cart. Shopify’s checkout and order confirmation pages aren’t theme pages, so they’re not included. Crustat tracks visits, not sales: no order amounts are sent.
To see how many people reach a page, like a thank-you or landing page, see track clicks, forms and sales.
While you’re editing your theme, the theme editor preview isn’t tracked, so editing doesn’t add visits to your stats.
Switch it off or remove it
- Pause it: in the theme editor, open App embeds, turn Crustat off and save.
- Remove it: uninstall the app from your Shopify admin. Crustat forgets the store connection. The stats you already have stay in your Crustat dashboard.
Not seeing your visit?
Check that you clicked Save in the theme editor, and that you’re testing on your live storefront, not in the theme editor’s preview. If your store uses a different domain from the one in Crustat, add it under the site’s domains, see add and manage your sites. For anything else, see visits aren’t showing up.
