Look back further with History
History keeps a summary of every day for good, so you can look back over months or years and compare any two periods.
What History is
The Overview tab goes back 30 days at most. The History tab goes back much further. Every day, Crustat keeps a short summary of each site’s day, and keeps it for as long as the site exists. History shows those summaries.
Open a site and click History.
Pick a period
Choose one of the ready-made periods:
- 3 months (the default)
- 6 months
- 12 months
- This year
- Last year
3, 6 and 12 months are whole calendar months, this month included, and end yesterday: on 4 October, 3 months is 1 August to 3 October. This year runs from 1 January to yesterday, and Last year is the whole calendar year before. Today isn’t in History yet: it’s added once the day is over.
For exact days, use Pick dates: set From and To, then Show. A period can be up to 3 years long.
Compare it
Under Compare with, pick:
- The period before: the same length of time just before. For This year and Last year, it reads The year before.
- A year before: the same dates, one year earlier.
- Nothing: no comparison.
What you see
- Totals: visitors, page views, bounce rate and session time, each with what it was in the period you compare with.
- A chart of visitors: one bar per day for periods up to 92 days, one bar per month for longer ones.
- Top 10 lists: Pages, Entry pages, Referrers, Channels, Countries and Devices, each with what it was before. A row marked “not in the top before” is new to the list.
Days follow your site’s time zone, and the page says which one (“Days in Europe/Berlin”).
Where History starts
History begins with your site’s first visit, and reaches back at most about 3 months from when it was first filled in. The page tells you when (“History starts on 12 May 2026: days before it weren’t kept.”), and a period that reaches earlier just shows nothing for those days.
When you open History for the first time, it fills in right away. “History is being filled in” means the first days show up within the hour and the last 3 months over the next few hours.
Some things to know
- All addresses together. If your site runs on several domains, History adds them all up. The domain menu on the Overview doesn’t apply here.
- Past days don’t change. Each day is kept in the time zone the site had then. If you change the time zone later, older days stay as they were.
- No file download. History has no CSV. You can download the last 30 days from the Overview. See Download your numbers.
- Only Crustat’s own data. History starts from what Crustat recorded. There’s no import from other analytics tools.
- Deleting a site deletes its History. See How long your data is kept.
