Set monthly goals

Pick visitors, page views or an event, choose a number for the month, and Crustat shows how close you are and whether you're on pace.

What a goal is

A goal is a target for the month: 5,000 visitors, 20,000 page views, or 40 sign-ups. Crustat shows how far along you are, and whether you’re on track to get there by the end of the month.

Goals live on the Goals tab of your site, under the title Goals for and the current month. Goals start over on the 1st.

Set a goal

Open your site and go to the Goals tab.
Press New goal. If you have none yet, the button is under Set your first goal.
Choose what to track: Visitors, Page views or An event.
For an event, pick one from your events or type its name.
Under How many a month?, type a whole number. Crustat suggests one based on how things have gone lately.
Press Set goal.

You can also start from the Events tab: next to any event, choose Make it a goal.

Only owners and admins can set and remove goals. Viewers can see them.

Reading the progress

Each goal shows where you are against the target, for example “1,240 of 5,000”. Under it:

On pace or Behind pace: whether, at the rate so far, you’ll reach the target by the end of the month.
A percentage and where the month is heading, like “25% · heading for 5,600 this month”.
Goal reached! once you get there.

A new goal looks at the whole month so far, so one set on the 20th already includes the visits since the 1st.

Event goals

An event goal tracks how many times that event happened this month. It can be any event: one you set up on the Events tab, a file download, or one your site sends from code. See Track clicks, forms and sales.

The name has to match the event exactly. “Sign up” and “Signup” are two different events, so the easiest way is to pick it from the list instead of typing it.

Limits

Up to 20 goals per site.
Targets go from 1 to 1,000,000,000.
No editing. To change a goal’s target, open its options, choose Remove goal, and set a new one. Nothing is lost: the progress comes from your stats, not from the goal.
Months follow your site’s time zone. The month starts at midnight on the 1st in the time zone set under Site settings → General. See Add and manage your sites.
Event goals use your top 100 events. If a site sends more than 100 different events in a month, a goal for one of the rarest may show 0.
No emails. Goals show on the Goals tab only. To get your numbers by email, see Get your stats by email.
