Invite your team

Invite people to your workspace as admins or viewers, limit a viewer to some sites, and manage invitations.

Workspaces and roles

Your sites live in a workspace. When you sign up, Crustat makes one for you, and you’re its owner. Everyone you invite joins that workspace with one of three roles:

OwnerAdminViewer
Read the statsEvery siteEvery siteEvery site, or only the ones you pick
Add, change and delete sitesYesYesNo
Rename the workspace, set its time zoneYesYesNo
Invite and remove people, change rolesYesYesNo
Choose or change the planYesNoNo
See the plan and usageYesYesYes

In short, as the app puts it: the owner does everything, the plan included; an admin adds sites and invites people; a viewer reads the stats.

Each workspace has exactly one owner: the person who made it. The owner can’t be removed and the role can’t be handed to someone else.

Invite someone

Owners and admins can invite people.

  1. Open the account menu (your initial, top right) and choose Team.
  2. Press Invite people.
  3. Type their Email and pick a Role: Viewer (the default) or Admin.
  4. For a viewer, choose Sites they see: Every site, including new ones, or Only these and tick at least one.
  5. Press Send invitation.

They get an email with a link that works for 7 days. If they don’t have a Crustat account yet, they make one with that same address, then land back on the invitation. They press Join, and the workspace’s sites appear for them.

The invitation only works for the address it was sent to. If they sign in with a different email, they’ll see “We couldn’t find that invitation”. Sign out and sign in with the right one.

Pending invitations

Invitations waiting for an answer are listed under Invitations on the Team page, with who sent them and when they run out. Press Cancel to take one back. Inviting the same address again replaces the earlier invitation.

If one expires, just send a new one.

Change what someone can do

On the Team page, each person’s row shows their role and, for viewers, which sites they see.

  • Change a role with the role menu on their row. Making a viewer an admin gives them every site.
  • Change a viewer’s sites with the Sites button on their row.
  • Remove someone with Remove. They lose access straight away.

Admins can manage other admins and viewers, but not the owner. Nobody can change their own role.

A viewer limited to some sites doesn’t see the others at all, in the dashboard, in email reports or in alerts. If you delete a site, it simply drops out of their list.

How many people fit

Your plan sets how many people a workspace can hold, you included. Pending invitations take up a place too, until they’re accepted, cancelled or expired. The top of the Team page shows how many places are used. See pricing for each plan’s number.

When it’s full, Invite people tells you so and points to a bigger plan. Moving to a smaller plan never removes anyone already in; it only stops new invitations until there’s room.

Leave a workspace

Admins and viewers can leave under Workspace settings → General → Leave this workspace. You stop seeing its sites, and someone would have to invite you again. The owner can’t leave their own workspace.

Belonging to several workspaces

You can be in more than one workspace: your own, plus any you’ve been invited to. When you are, the account menu shows Workspaces, where you switch between them. Each one has its own sites, team and plan.
