Installation

Installing Crustat takes about a minute.

  1. Download the latest Crustat .dmg.
  2. Open the downloaded .dmg file.
  3. Drag Crustat into your Applications folder.
  4. Launch Crustat from Applications (or Spotlight). It lives in the menu bar — there’s no Dock icon, so look for the crab near the top-right of your screen.
  5. On first launch, macOS asks for keychain access — click Always Allow so Crustat can show your live rate limits. See Signing in for what that prompt is and why it’s safe.
Crustat is signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens normally — no “unidentified developer” warning to click through.

Want it running every time you start your Mac? Add Crustat under System Settings → General → Login Items.
